Extractions

Dr. Hatcher makes every effort to preserve your natural teeth. However, extractions are necessary when decay has rendered the tooth unsalvageable or when you have advanced periodontal disease. Different procedures are utilized when a tooth is malformed, damaged, impacted, or ingrown, but all extractions are classified as surgery.

Depending on which tooth is removed, we can provide you with a replacement option in the form of a dental implant or an oral prosthetic. These solutions are designed to restore both functionality and aesthetics, ensuring that your smile remains intact.

FAQ

Do I need my tooth extracted?

Having a tooth extraction is the last option if the tooth cannot be salvaged. Dr. Hatcher will go over what your options are and why the tooth needs to be extracted.

What should I expect during an extraction procedure?

Once the local anesthetic is in affect, you will feel pressure but not pain during the extraction process. You will hear noise also, but if you experience pain at anytime please let Dr. Hatcher know so she can rectify the situation and make you comfortable.

How long is the healing process?

It typically takes 6 weeks for the tissue to close over the tooth socket so you can go back to eating hard crunchy foods, seeds and nuts.
